A Gift of Sunflowers We met the Ukranian who was kind enough to let us visit his garden.
The sunflower garden
He lives around the corner from the location of the former synagogue on Sovetskaya street, the former Brestskaya street.

A gift of sunflowers
He was kind enough to give us a gift of sunflower seeds. I took some home. On, Rosh Hashanah, My mother who grew up in Divin, and her great grandchildren planted them indoors in a flowerpot, with the earth from the divin massacre site. After I returned home from Divin, I was able to locate a video that my parents made more than 25 years ago. To my amazement, when my dad said the name of the street where they lived, it was the same street as the sunflower man. I was stunned to think that my parents lived on the very street where I had walked. My dad called the Street Brisker Street, which was the Yiddish name.
