1765-1840

Nicholas the First (1796 – 1855) – Russian Emperor from 1825.
In 1830 Nicholas the First sanctioned the plan of building the Fortress.

General Opperman Karl Ivanovich (1765 – 1831)
One of the authors of the project of Brest-Litovsk fortress. XIXth century.

Totleben Edward Ivanovich (1818 – 1884)
Adjutant General of the Russian Army, Engineer Fortifier, according to whose plans the forts were built in Brest-Litovsk Fortress. The 70s of the XIXth century.

Field-Marshal-General I. F. Paskevich
Count Paskevich Ivan Fedorovich (1782 – 1856), Field-Marshal-General, supervised the construction of Brest-Litovsk fortress.

The Russians destroyed the synagogue among all Jewish houses, as well as all other buildings in that area to enable the building of the fortress.
