All the stories they told me of what had happened in the ghetto, we have all seen on films and read about, but it is not the same as when one actually stands in the place. It is a different feeling altogether.
When I got back to England, wherever I went, whoever I met, they all wanted to know my experience: what did I see, what did I hear, how it was, and it was so difficult for me to keep repeating the same things again and again, but I was very touched and happy that people are interested and want to know of my experience. It was a very hard journey and tiring, but I am glad I had the opportunity to fulfil my dream and go back to visit my birthplace. That is why I wanted to write it down and send it to Menorah, so that people can read and share my experience. Maybe there is someone else who had the same experience and maybe somewhere there are some people from Vollchen who would like to listen to the taperecordings I brought back. I will gladly let them listen to them.
Thank you for listening to me and reading my story.
