Berl would not live in Wysokie in his aunt Menucha's house, and preferred to take a room with the family Zvayentz in Wysokie, paying rent of 10 rubles a month. On weekends he would appear in Volchin, and stayed in his father Yerachmiel's house. During week days he worked 5 and a half hours a day and finished working 15:30 in the afternoon.

Reverse, dedication to Dov's mother, Berl's sister,
signed by Berl Stavsky: B. Stavsky

It was the end of summer. Rain did not fall abundantly then. In order to combat the expected mud in winter, my grandfather paid half the price of boots for his son, ordered from the shoemaker in Wysokie Litewskie. The price of the boots was 900 rubles -- 3 month's pay.

No details of Berl's death or his place of burial are known.

Webmaster's notes: This is the same “Berl” who married Shmuel Englander's sister. 300 rubles a month: Dov remarks that a friend from Brest told him that this amount was equivalent to a Brest teacher's salary. Zvayentz: very possibly a rendering of Zając (listen here). According to thisVoter's List, there were about 7 families of this name in Wysokie Litewskie in 1928..
