The Fate of Timofievitch
Timofievitch's testimony concludes:
The above-mentioned protocol according to my oral testimony, is written correctly.

Signed: Semyanyuk Vasili Timofievitch February 13th 1945

Investigator: prosecutor of Brest district, Muchanov B.A.

In the presence of [name omitted] of the NKVD.
Dov Bar: After I described the testimony of Timofievitch to Gershon Lev, he asked me about the fate of this murderer. I really don't know but I assume that he was most probably executed shortly after. This is based on my personal knowledge of Stalin's yes-men and the NKVD. When the Soviet regime wanted to get rid of famous people, these people were brought to exhibition trials after being investigated and brain-washed in the basements of Stalin's Secret Police. The defendants always admitted their “sins” in court. Afterwards they were led to their death in the prison basements and were shot in the back of their necks while going down the stairs. Later their bodies were burned in a crematorium in the backyard of the prison house and turned to ashes. I guess that Timofievitch was not important enough for the Soviets and therefore was executed after his testimony without trial, probably in the prison of Brest.
