Introduction by Dina Jaeger
Rabbi Rozenblum writes in his diary the accounts of his store and household together with accounts of his soul searching – issues between himself and the customers, his friends, his community, and among peoples and humanity as a whole.

Events in his family – sad or joyful, positive or negative, in the local community in Brisk and later in Mezritch, in the Jewish society and in world society - economic, political and social – all are found in his diary.

The diary depicts the personality of the religious and observant Jew of that period, his internal conflicts and acceptance of his fate, while he experiences a storm of emotions in face of the pogroms against Jews in the land and in the world.

Baruch Meir was a religious family man, and an ardent Zionist. Studying
Torah and Talmud were a part of his daily routine... Belief in Zionism and actively following its call comprised the other part of his personality.

In the stream of writing all that – the borders between the private and general are dim.
