Feinstein from Brisk d'Lita, Shalom uvrakha!:
When we were together in Warsaw on business, you told me that you are the person behind the name
אל"ף
who enlightened us with your wise remarks in HaLevanon, and being very modest you hid your own name.
Ish Horovitz challenges Rabbi Feinstein's linguistic article Feinstein wrote in HaLevanon of that year and attacks his attempts at anonymity:
We should reprimand scholars who hide their name behind acronyms, numerological devices and other hints. They burden future generation. Historians, even today, scratch their heads and waste time on deciphering the names of enigmatic scholars, arguing with each other about their “finds”…
