In 1917, Baruch Meir is 60 years old and he sums up (here and here) the 10 last years:
the death of his wife, wedding of his daughters and the “big war”.
On the two pages he conducts similar soul-searching as in the past, describing what he has improved and in where he has “fallen”. He mentions that being less careful was a result of the war and then it continued even afterwards. Giving tzedaka also decreased because of the decrease in wealth due to the war.
